On Oct. 25, FedEx closed on a 7.5-acre piece of property at Gunnison Rising, located on the south side of Highway 50, to build a distribution center and retail facility. The location will serve Gunnison, Crested Butte and several communities surrounding Gunnison County.
Gunnison and Gunnison Rising were chosen over other locations due to the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport that is currently undergoing renovation and expansion, proximity to Western Colorado University for labor, and availability of trails for workers to commute by bike. The distribution center and retail facility is expected to be up and running in 2022.
