Gunnison is almost like a step back in time but with all the modern amenities. Surrounded by a national recreation area, mountains, lakes, rivers, high-mountain sage, and acres and acres of ranchland, this southwest Colorado community seems right out of a Western movie, with a few modifications of course! The community started out as a mining supply town in the 1880s, transitioned into a ranching town with a college, and once was considered as a possible location for the state capitol.
